Hello, I’m Karl Tate, a graphic designer based in Brooklyn, New York. I’m a graduate of Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Graphic Design.
Beginning my career at The Associated Press in New York, I developed skills in researching, writing, and designing in a deadline-oriented environment. I provided charts, graphs, maps and infographics to a worldwide network of AP members, and contributed to the then-new Web presence of the AP, “The Wire”.
Since then I’ve worked on various design projects for print, video and online. At Space.com and Livescience.com I contributed infographics and other visuals. I designed onscreen graphics and packaging for the documentary film “Plastic Galaxy: The Story of Star Wars Toys,” and I was also a co-producer on the film.
As a freelance consultant to the TOMY toy company (and avid Sci-Fi fan) I contributed research and design to their line of collectible replica spaceships, including their 34-inch, diecast metal "Star Trek" USS Enterprise model to be released in 2025.
I’m currently looking for an ongoing, full-time design role and would appreciate learning about any available opportunities.
